These are part one of my boujee appetizers for $12 or less series! Hosting can be expensive, so I want to provide you with some fun ideas to still give your guests a tasty, special experience without breaking the bank!
Ingredients & Price Breakdown
Puff Pastry Sheets: $4.99 – Ok I admit, I got it on sale. But it is how much I paid!!
Gruyere & Swiss Cheese Blend: $2.69 – Of course, freshly shredded gruyere is traditional and would probably be better, but on the pricier side. So this cheese blend from Aldi fits in the budget and is still so tasty.
Deli Ham: $3.19 for 1lb. Aldi also has a great deal on freshly sliced ham, which I think made a difference. But you could use really any type of salty ham you have on hand.
1cupshredded gruyere + swiss blendfrom Aldi (could use gruyere)
1/4cupfull fat mayonnaise
1.5tbspdijon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Cut puff pastry into 1" squares
Grease mini muffin pan with neutral olive oil or cooking spray, then gently pull the puff pastry squares on each side and push into the pan to make little cups
In a mixing bowl, combine ham, cheese, mayo, and dijon until the cheese and ham are evenly coated
Put about 1 tsp of ham and cheese mixture into each cup, then bake for 18-20 minutes, until the cheese has browned and puff pastry is cooked through.
Enjoy hot and garnish with chives if you have them!
I’ve made this for our annual Christmas party the last two years and have yet to have any leftover. These are so easy to make, but taste like the most delicious gourmet treat!
