Juicy Turkey Burgers Every Time

Turkey burgers are a great, lighter option for grilling season (which is every season imo) and they don’t have to be dry!

The secret ingredient is grated zucchini!

Zucchini is full of water, and by not squeezing out the liquid of the zucchini, the moisture will help keep your burger juicy as it cooks. I also add onion and bell pepper to the patties for more flavor and more moisture. You can customize it with whatever seasonings you like, but I just like a classic salt and pepper.

Don’t skimp on the fat!

Because there is very little fat in the meat, when cooking the burgers, you’ll want to make sure there is plenty of oil and butter on your skillet. And make sure your pan is nice and hot, so you can get a nice sear without overcooking the meat.

  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 medium zucchini shredded
  • 1/2 red onion finely diced (1/3 cup green onion works too)

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Do not squeeze out any moisture from your vegetables – that’s what is going to make the burger so juicy!
  • Over medium high heat, add 2 T olive oil and 2 T butter
  • Sear burgers and flip once brown
  • Add cheese and remove once cheese is melted. Cover if needed to fully melt
  • Eat with toppings of your choice! I like avocado, Mayo, tomato, and hot sauce
