Sweet & Spicy Baked Brie

These are part one of my boujee appetizers for $12 or less series! Hosting can be expensive, so I want to provide you with some fun ideas to still give your guests a tasty, special experience without breaking the bank!

Ingredients & Price Breakdown

  • Brie Wheel: $3.89 Choose a full wheel with a rind!
  • Red Pepper Jam: $2.99 It’s sweet and spicy – you can use really any pepper jelly you have
  • French Baguette: $1.69
  • Pomegranate: $1.69 Definitely the least expensive place to get a pomegranate- and the best part is you’ll still have 1 cup or more of pomegranate seeds left
  • Jalapeno: $0.75

Sweet & Spicy Baked Brie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 wheel baked brie
  • 2 tbsp red pepper jam or any sweet and spicy pepper jelly
  • 1.5 tbsp finely diced jalapeno include seeds for a spicier brie
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Remove top rind from brie, spread jam ontop, and bake at 400 for 20 minutes in an oven-safe dish as close to the size of the brie as possible
  • Slice baguette into half inch thick slices, and season generously with olive oil, salt, and pepper and add to 400 degree oven
  • While the brie and bread are in the oven, in a small bowl, combine pomegranate seeds, jalapeno, balsamic glaze, and a pinch of salt.
  • Remove brie from oven once soft, top with pomegranate and jalapeno mixture, and serve immediately with crostini
